The Toledo Jeep Liberty plant is working on a new Daimler Chrysler vehicle after having $100 million invested in the plant to update it. It's the first non-Jeep vehicle to be built there in over 10 years. The Nitro is Dodge's attempt to enter the mid-size SUV market, a hard sell when going up against the swift and nimble Toyota, Honda, and GM entries here already. But for Toledo it'll be a welcome sight. The new vehicle brings some 750 new jobs into town.
According to the Ohio News Network the Nitro also created 150 new jobs for a different kind of worker: 150 new robots were installed in the plant as well. Humans 750, Robots 150. We're still number one!
