Some of you have already woke to find your streets covered with the white stuff. For the rest of us, it's just a matter of time. I spent some time poking around e-Ohio for snow information. Some of the more interesting nuggets- Are you legally required to shovel your walk? Perhaps; it depends on local laws. Lakewood, for example, requires you to shovel a four-foot wide path, or, if the snow is frozen, apply salt.
What if you rent? Apparently, you're still responsible, unless your lease contains language making the landlord responsible.
What does a snowstorm cost Ohio? If you believe the figures of The Salt Institute, a widespread snow storm costs the state over $250 million in lost wages, taxes, and sales.
What are the most famous snow events in the state?
The storm of February 1910 dumped a couple of feet of snow, and blew into drifts up to 10' deep.
In late November of 1950 a snowstorm hit Columbus during the Ohio State-Michigan game, resulting in the legendary Snow Bowl.
The blizzard of '78 blew with winds up to 100 mph, shutting down the state for several days. It froze coal piles at Ohio power plants, threatening the state's electrical system.
