There is no place in Ohio friendlier--or more helpful than Steam Furnace, Ohio a couple miles from Peebles in Adams County. For instance, if you happen to have your car stuck in a ditch--really stuck, we're talking across one lane with the front end firmly off the road and the frame almost hitting pavement stuck, people in Steam Furnace will stop their cars. All will say, "Can I help you?" One of them will offer the use of his cell phone. Another will drive 4 miles down the road for help. Another will park her truck in the road with her flashers also on to make sure that no one comes barrelling down the hill to make matters worse since it's pitch dark outside and that car in the ditch is at the very worst angle. And another will go home to get a very large chain with the idea that he can haul the car out of the ditch by hooking it to his truck. But, instead of his truck being needed to do the deed, the woman who headed down the road for help in the first place, sent help in the form of another man with a truck that had a place to attach the other guy's chain. Yep, if I were ever going to get a car stuck in a ditch, I would do it in Steam Furnace. You'd probably find people to get it out. They've had practice. If you're not in Steam Furnace, I'd make sure I had AAA.
There are different AAA regions in Ohio. If you go to the AAA Ohio website you can find out the closest one to you. Besides roadside service, AAA will help you plan trips, provide travel discounts and pair up with other services. Once I had a flat tire and a AAA person came to fix it on the spot for a grand total of about $12. I didn't have to take my car anywhere.
