I learned about this while at the Bazaar Bizarre, which makes sense since it's being curated by Laura Kuenzli, who was hawking her crafts at the Bazaar!
"Operation: Fragmentation" is a group exhibition, showcasing what various artists did when starting with the same piece. In this case, a little grenade-headed doll. I'm sorry, a Nade figure, which is paired with an authentic surplus ammo case. Each artist will customize the figure and arrange it into something unique. Laura showed me some pictures of the pieces, and I've got to say... for a tiny little round-headed vinyl doll, they all end up looking wildly different and really interesting. That must be because 23 really interesting artists worked on these pieces!
The show opens at December 16, at the BoMA: Bar of Modern Art in Columbus. The exhibit will run through January 21, 2007 (wow, I have not had to write 2007 on anything yet!). I really think that this would be a great show to go see - it's obviously a step away from the path of ordinary.
